Mt. Nebo State Park

The author and Kellisa arrive at Mount Nebo State Park late in the afternoon, just ahead of thunderstorms, to complete the 3.9-mile Bench Trail. The challenging loop circles the mountain below its summit along an old roadbed once used by an 1880s resort. They choose to travel clockwise, beginning with a short but steep road walk. Because Kellisa rides in an off-road mobility chair, the author emphasizes the importance of tethering the chair on inclines to prevent a dangerous runaway.
