Ramblr App Test Walks
Miners Ravine
Roseville, CA
September 2017
Test Walk 1: We've been using Garmin products for years to track our walks and hikes. I read a few reviews about Ramblr and decided to download it to my phone. It's a lot more user friendly and I like the way it marks the location of where pictures are taken. Kellisa and I went for a short walk on our home path, the Miners Ravine Trail in Roseville, CA to try Ramblr. My first impressions are positive, I just need to learn all the features and benefits and how to easily share the map of the route walked/hiked. We look forward to trying Ramblr on a wilderness trail. Monday, January 23, 2017

Atmospheric River (Northern California 2017)

Stone Point to Sierra College Blvd. (RT)

A week ago, I had never heard of an atmospheric river. After nearly a week of non-stop rain, I now know the definition of an atmospheric river, "an extended period of strong winds, heavy rain, lower elevation flooding, and epic snow in the Sierras".
While many areas near us are suffering major effects from the atmospheric river, we are very fortunate to just be a little soaked. The little creek behind and below our house has swollen to the size of a fast flowing river. In between rainstorms, Kellisa and I squeezed in a quick hike.

A Perfect Father's Day
Sunday, June 19, 2016
Father's Day 2016 started with a morning 3.35 mile walk on the trail system behind our house with Kellisa:
The morning was already hot and sunny, so Kellisa was a little tired and stayed home while Laurel got to go to Sunsplash Waterpark. It's a good thing that Kellisa stayed home because she ended up having a sun related seizure. Sunsplash is Laurel's reason for loving her new house. In the parking lot picture below left, you can see a row of houses (center right) in the distance, that's our neighborhood less than a mile away and Laurel is beyond exstatic to be living so close.
After an easy (no cook) dinner of shrimp and rolls, we enjoyed the end of our day making and eating S'mores:
