What a Difference 12 Years Can Make

49ers and Jaguars

We were season ticket holders for the Jaguars in 2005 and watched the 49ers game when they visited Jacksonville from Kellisa's hospital room. It was a rough fall/winter for Kellisa as she endured brain surgeries in October, November, and December. Always the trooper, she was able to attend every home game except the 49ers and that's only because she was still in the hospital. Back in October, we went to a Monday night football game the day after she was released from the hospital. After being trapped in the hospital, Kellisa was more than ready to get out and have some fun. It helps that the Jaguars won that game too.

Fast forward to 2017.

We no longer had season tickets, no longer lived in Jacksonville, and Kellisa had a little sister for the past 7 years. We moved to the Sacramento area in 2016, but remain diehard Jaguars fans. When the 2017 schedule was released, we were disappointed that our "local" Jaguars game 2 hours away at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, CA was scheduled for Christmas Eve. Afraid that it would interfere with holiday plans, we did not purchase tickets.

For many reasons, we weren't in the Christmas spirit in early December when thoughts once again turned to the upcoming Jaguars game against the SF 49ers. We were able to find good and very cheap tickets online and decided to celebrate the first Jaguars winning season in a decade by going to the game.

The Jaguars ended up losing to the 2017 49ers, but it was an exciting game that really wasn't decided until the final 2 minutes. Everyone at the stadium from workers to the fans treated us amazing. I can't say enough about how well Levi's Stadium handles the traffic and parking. We paid for a spot before leaving home and ample signs directed us directly to the spot with minimal delays. Then we had a short walk to a disabled shuttle bus with a lift for Kellisa, which she loved, before being dropped just outside the stadium. Even in the tight quarters of the bus, the 49ers fans were nice and cordial to us...the only Jaguars fans along for the short ride. It was just as easy returning to our car and leaving the stadium area.

We were disappointed in the final, but we all had a great time.
